Case Study:
Swinemoor Primary Beverley
School Digital Transformation

When Swinemoor Primary Beverley approached Digital Schools back in January 2013, they didn’t just want a new website. They wanted a complete digital transformation — a platform that could genuinely reflect the depth, creativity, and ambition of their curriculum and give their pupils a real voice online.

What followed is one of Digital Schools’ longest-standing and most rewarding partnerships — a collaboration now spanning over twelve years that continues to evolve as Swinemoor’s vision grows.

A bespoke website built around curriculum depth

Swinemoor Primary School’s curriculum is anything but standard, and their website needed to reflect that. Digital Schools designed and built a bespoke school website with interactive curriculum pages that go far beyond a simple list of subjects.

The Swinemoor News Channel — over 10 years of pupil journalism

One of the most distinctive features of Swinemoor’s digital presence is the pupil-led Swinemoor News channel — running for over ten years with more than 200 pupil presenters. Every Friday pupils prepare scripts, film around the school, and edit the final show using Adobe software — going live the same day to a significant traffic spike.

The Graduate Awards Programme

The Graduate Awards Programme is an innovative, knowledge-based enrichment scheme that sits at the heart of Swinemoor’s approach to curriculum excellence. Praised by Ofsted as central to the school’s success, the programme gives pupils the opportunity to study beyond the standard curriculum – entirely in their own time, at their own pace, at home or at school.

Pupils can elect to pursue Graduate status across a range of subject areas. When they feel ready, they take the Graduate Test. On passing, they receive a badge to wear on their school uniform – a visible, tangible mark of dedication and scholarship that means something to the whole school community.

Digital Schools built a dedicated Graduate Awards section into the Swinemoor website, giving each subject its own page and creating a resource that pupils, parents and visitors can explore with pride. It’s a powerful example of how a well-designed school website can actively support a school’s wider curriculum ambitions – not just report on them.

360 Photography Tour — bringing Swinemoor to life

Digital Schools produced a full 360 photography tour of Swinemoor Primary Beverley, giving prospective families an immersive experience before they ever visit. For parents researching schools in Beverley and the East Riding, this makes an immediate and lasting impression.

Curriculum Vocabulary Films — learning on screen

Swinemoor’s pupils don’t just learn vocabulary — they film it. Digital Schools integrated curriculum vocabulary films directly into the website, creating a rich searchable resource that brings learning to life.

Swinemoor Primary Beverley — A Twelve-Year Partnership

Since January 2013, Digital Schools has supported Swinemoor through multiple website iterations, platform developments, staff training, and ongoing compliance monitoring. As an East Riding Council maintained school, Swinemoor Primary Beverley operates within a local authority framework — and Digital Schools understands exactly what that means.
